KANO Model Framework
The KANO Model Framework is a customer-centric tool used to evaluate and prioritize product features based on their impact on customer satisfaction. It categorizes features into four types: Basic (expected and necessary), Satisfiers (directly influence satisfaction), Delighters (unexpected but highly appreciated), and Indifferent (features that don’t significantly affect satisfaction). This classification helps product teams decide where to invest effort and resources for the greatest return in user happiness.
By understanding which features drive delight versus which simply meet baseline expectations, businesses can make smarter design, development, and marketing decisions. The Kano Model is especially useful during product planning and iteration, as it ensures you focus on what truly matters to your customers—not just what’s easy to build or commonly assumed to be valuable.
